Lebanon’s regular season ended Tuesday evening in Memorial Park and they came up on the short end of a 1 to 0 loss at the hands of Lafayette Jeff and their young pitcher Owen Linder. Just a freshman, Linder went the distance for the win allowing just three hits and a pair of walks. He struck out five. LHS junior Michael Reese, just back from an injury, arguably pitched his best game of the year. He was the complete game loser, giving up the one earned run on four hits. He did not walk a batter and fanned a career best eleven.

The Broncho’s run came in the 4th. Caleb Koeppen singled to lead off the inning. He then stole 2nd base and advanced to 3rd on a Tiger error. He would come home on a Kalani Washington single to right. Linder solved every Tiger batter but junior Jarret French who singled in each of his three plate appearances.

The loss drops Lebanon to 11 and 14 on the season. Next up for the Tigers is their Sectional opener on Memorial Day (5/27) at North Montgomery. They will take on conference rival Crawfordsville at 11:00. If they advance to the championship game it would be later that same day at 6:30.

Congratulations to the players, including seniors Jonathan Moore, Ryan Nastav, Michael O’Connor, and Tyler Parker on their season. Good luck to them and coach Rick Cosgray and his staff: Chris Coddington, Nathan Kincaid, and Bob Adams in the post season. And I can’t forget manager Kierra Kaufman who has braved many a cold game this year running video for the team.
