Harker’s Walkoff Gives Tigers Victory Over Zionsville
A walk-off single propelled Tigers to a decisive, dramatic victory over Zionsville, 7-6. The game was tied at six with Tigers batting in the bottom of the ninth when Tori Harker singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Despite falling down by four runs in the first inning, Zionsville tried to fight back. Zionsville scored six runs in the failed comeback on a in the third, a home run by Annie Tokarek in the third, and a single by D Hardesty in the fourth.
Tigers got things moving in the first inning, when Courtney Welborn singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
In the top of the fourth inning, Zionsville tied things up at six when Hardesty singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Abigail McPherson pitched Tigers to victory. She surrendered one run on four hits over six innings, striking out three and walking one.
Carly Whitlock took the loss for Zionsville. She went eight innings, allowing three runs on 11 hits and striking out three.
Madison Swanson started the game for Zionsville. She allowed four runs on three hits and walked one Welborn started the game for Tigers. She allowed three hits and five runs over three innings, walking one
Tigers scattered 14 hits in the game. Abbi Wirey, Payten Redman, Welborn, Hannah Wirey, and Jenna Weaver each managed multiple hits for Tigers. Wirey went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Tigers in hits.
Zionsville saw the ball well today, racking up seven hits in the game. Hardesty and Teagan Shaw all managed multiple hits for Zionsville. Hardesty led Zionsville with three hits in four at bats.
