COUGARS TAKE TIGERS IN FIVE
Greenfield Central paid a visit to Memorial Park on Monday and “walked” out with a win 15 to 2 in five innings, as six Tiger pitchers issued 14 free passes on the night. Sophomore Drew Cosgray started for the Tigers. A first inning error let the Cougars plate 10 and it was all downhill from there for the home team. Cosgray lasted only two-thirds of the inning giving up 6 runs (none earned) on no hits and five walks. Junior Jared Fields came on to get the final out but not before allowing the other 4 runs (all unearned). He would also only last two-thirds of an inning, surrendering 8 total runs on five hits and four walks. Nick Nies, Ben Johnson, Garrett Harker, and Nick Dafoe covered the remaining innings for Lebanon. Nies went two and a third allowing no runs on two hits, three walks, and a hit batter. He fanned three.
Lucas Gibson started for GC and was the complete game winner. He went the five innings giving up the two earned on 5 hits and a pair of walks. He struck out four. Braxton Turner drove in four for the Cougars while Adam Hutchison knocked in three. Leadoff man Carson Gibson scored three times.
For Lebanon, Harker and Senior Jarrett French each had a pair of hits. Harker scored after tripling in the 1st on Senior Nick Bland’s groundout and he scored again in the 3rd on Senior Tyler Welborn’s booming double to the wall.
The loss drops the Tiger to 8 and 10 on the season, 5 and 4 in Sagamore Conference play. They travel to Danville tonight for the first of a home-and-home with the Warriors. Game time is set for 6:00.
