HARKER TOSSES NO-NO AS TIGERS BEAT MOUNTIES
Freshman Garrett Harker gave up nary a hit Tuesday at Southmont as LHS took down their conference foe 2 to 0. He struck out 11 and walked 5 in the gem. On the season Harker stands at 5 wins and 3 losses with a stellar ERA of 1.55. Sophomore Reese Long was the loser for South. He came on in relief of starter Cole Roach to start the 4th inning and gave up the two earned on 3 hits and 4 walks. He struck out a pair of Tiger hitters.
Neither team could generate any offense until the 6th when the Tigers pushed their two across. Harker walked to lead off the inning and was sacrificed to 2nd on Senior Haydn Parker’s bunt. After moving to 3rd on a balk, Senior Tyler Welborn drove him in with a sharp single to left. Senior Nick Bland drove in the second run with a bases loaded walk later in the inning.
The win broke a seven game skid for the Tigers and leaves them at 9 and 13 on the season, 5 and 6 in conference. They travel to Speedway today for a 5:30 game with the Sparkplugs. On Friday they will host the Tri-West Bruins for the final conference game of the year. It will be Senior Night in Memorial Park. The Tiger Seniors and their families will be introduced and honored prior to the 6:00 start. Then on Saturday they travel to Twin Lakes High School for a pair of games at 1:30 and 4:00.
