Today, Lebanon proudly hosted the first ever Sagamore Conference Student-Athlete Leadership Conference, welcoming 25 outstanding student-athletes representing Harrison, McCutcheon, Danville, Terre Haute North, Terre Haute South, and Lebanon High Schools. The conference was led by Mike Eger of Education Stadium. Mike’s mission, and the goal of the conference, was to inspire and empower young people to take control of their futures. Throughout the day, Mike provided valuable resources and activities designed to foster personal development, leadership, confidence, and the core values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and commitment. His goal was to ensure that student-athletes leave with the knowledge and tools needed to reach their full potential and become engaged, successful members of their schools and communities. Using his SALT (Student-Athlete Leadership Training) modules, Mike guided students through activities that helped them discover their personal leadership style and understand the qualities of effective team leaders. Participants worked on making decisions under pressure, applying positive peer influence, practicing accountability, managing peer conflict, communicating effectively in both one-on-one and team settings, setting high goals and standards, mentoring others, building strong team relationships, and embracing the philosophy of “One Goal, Many Roles.” A major focus throughout the day centered on maintaining high standards, accountability, and sportsmanship. I would like to thank the Lebanon freshmen and sophomores pictured below who attended and represented Lebanon with class. I look forward to watching them embrace their leadership potential and bring the lessons they learned today back to their coaches and teammates as they help the Tigers achieve success both athletically and academically.
