Tigers News · LHS Welcomes new Softball Coach Robert Dowhen

Tuesday night December 17th, LCSC School Board approved the hiring of Robert Dowhen as new Head Softball Coach.  Coach Dowhen graduated from Kankakee Valley High School and received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Indianapolis in Marketing and Human Resources in 2005. He is the current President /Owner of Indiana Elite North vs. South College Showcases. Over the last eight years Indiana Elite has organized college showcases for high school basketball, softball, golf, and soccer and volleyball programs. During this process Coach Dowhen has obtained a great deal of knowledge of Midwest High School softball programs and fellow coaches. He has had the privilege to coach with softball programs at Lowell, Tri-County and Southport High School. And for the last three years has been the head coach at Cascade High School.

Coach Dowhen has spent many years studying the aspect of pitching. He has worked and continues to communicate with former Purdue University Pitcher Suzie Rzegocki who has gone on to be a nationally ranked Assistant Coach at Arizona State.

Coach Dowhen believes in a “one program system” and his goal is to build a softball program from the youth aged to the high school level. He will be building his coaching staff and hopes to include former assistant coaches from the past.

I have known Coach Dowhen and worked with him in the past, I feel confident he and his staff will work well together to continue to build a successful program. I welcome Coach Dowhen to the Tiger coaching family and I am extremely excited for the program.
