The Tigers XC teams traveled to Terre Haute to compete in the THSB State Preview meet on Saturday, September 7th. The meet was held on the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country course, where the State meet will he held. The Tigers competed in the 1A-3A race.
The varsity boys’ team started the day and had some outstanding performances to bring home a 1st place finish out of 18 teams! There were 149 runners in this race. Zachary West took off in the front of the pack early and pulled away after the mile marker to win the 1A-3A meet. He ran a PR (personal record) in a time of 17:02. The duo of JD Hawks & Nick Toleos ran together nearly every step of the way to finish in 10th & 11th, and not far behind was Kyler Strange in 18th, in 23rd was Hunter Smith, rounding out the top 7 was Aiden Frost in 25th and Sriram Srinivason in 33rd. Also running in the varsity race was David Bradley (40th with a PR), Braden Robison (41st), Aaron Gommel (43rd), Jared Carter (45th), and Alex Eminhiser (64th).
The Lady Tigers also ran a great race finishing 2nd out of 12 teams. There were 102 runners in the race. Murphy Adams ran a very impressive last 1/2 mile of the race to finish first place in the 1A-3A race. Teammates Abbi Coyle and Summer Stogsdill both running gutsy races were next in 12th & 14th; in her 1st race back from an injury Emerson Haines ran great to place 21st; Kloe Coyle stepped up with a big race to place 33rd; the 6th runner (who broke the 2nd place tie with Western Boone) and ran over a minute PR was Maleigha Howard in 40th; Jessica Fischer just behind her in 43rd; rounding out the race was Jaleigha Howard (50th); Abby Lewis (57th) and Lucy Gascho (64th).
We also ran in the boys reserve race that had 341 runners racing. Again, great effort and great times from the JV boys. Leading the Tigers was Ethan Jensen (113th), Abram Hale (231st), Beau Burgin (234th), Carter Thurnall (244th with a PR), Caleb Newsom (262nd), Johnny Trepcos (272nd), Jared Walton (278th), and Mason McWaters (313th).
The Tigers will compete in the Charger Classic this Thursday, September 12th at North Montgomery High School.
