The LHS Girls Soccer team travelled to Danville HS for their semifinal match up vs the Lady Frankfort Hotdogs. The Lady Tigers asserted themselves early with some slick passing that opened the Lady Hotdogs backline and allowed Senior Captain Kirstin Byrd room to race towards goal on more than one occasion. It would take several of these chances but Byrd had her finishing boots on for the match finishing with a career best, 5 goal game and a hat trick by halftime. At halftime the Lady Tigers were winning 3-1 compliments of Byrd’s first half hat trick. The Lady Tigers would add another 4 goals in the second half and ultimately win the match by a score of 7-2. Freshman forward Riley Jump continued her impressive inaugural season with a brace in her first Sectional game. Earning assists on the night were Senior Captain Lilly Haines, Junior Captain Madison Maher, Senior Sam Malagon and Freshman Riley Jump. In addition, senior Alyna Sell registered two assists. The Lady Tigers could have added several more assists with their dangerous passing opening up the Lady Hotdogs backline from the midfield and center back positions. Coach Hyatt was very impressed with the team’s overall intensity and attitude throughout the match as the Lady Tigers avoided a sluggish start by going strong from the opening kickoff.
The Lady Tigers will now play the Lady Warriors of Danville at Danville this Saturday at 2:00 pm in the Sectional Championship match. We hope to see a lot of Tiger Fans out to support the team as they try to make history by winning the first ever Sectional Soccer Title!
