The Tigers Cross Country teams traveled to Brown County this past Saturday to run in the Eagle Classic. There were seven total races for the day. Due to the amount of rain and muddy course we had to change up the lineup for the boys’ races. We tried to get in races as early as possible, so this broke up our top 7 boy runners in different races.
The 1st race was a Freshman/Sophomore boys’ race with 137 runners: Leading the pack with a PR (personal record) for the day was Zachary West in 35th with a time of 18:31. Followed by Aaron Gommel with a SB (season best) in at time of 20:32 placing 102nd, Caleb McKaig 129th, Carter Thurnall 131st, and John Stillwell placed 133rd after running over half the race with one shoe due to the other getting stuck in the mud.
The girls’ varsity race placed 8th out of 19 teams, with 127 runners. Murphy Adams was the lead runner for the Lady Tigers – receiving a medal for 8th place, Abbi Coyle 34th, Emerson Haines 37th, Katie Hasty 58th, Maleigha Howard 100th, and Jessica Fischer 101st.
The conditions of the course were horrible for the Junior/Senior boys’ that raced in the Varsity boys race with 163 runners. Leading the pack was Camren Toole in 48th, David Bradley 115th, Jonathan Moore 131st, Grant Patrick 149th, Kade Cooper 154th, and Mason McWaters in 159th.
The Tigers will host their only home meet this Thursday, Sept 13th, for senior night. The senior night announcement will start before the meet at 4:45. The girls’ will race following the senior night, the boys’ will follow the last girl finisher.
