Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer · Lady Tigers Varsity Soccer falls to Danville in PK’s.

The LHS Girls soccer team travelled to conference rival Danville in varsity and JV action. It was an unusual game as the Lady Tigers were forced to finish this game on Tuesday even though the game began Monday.  Lightning caused the game to be finished Tuesday evening with the score level at 0-0 with only 3:23 minutes left in the second 7 minute extra period last night. Neither team was able to create many clear cut chances throughout the match and the Lady Tigers continued their strong defensive effort forcing the game to penalties after 94 minutes of play and not conceding a goal in regular time for the 4th time in 5 games in conference play. The Lady Tigers stand at 18 goals for vs 1 against in conference play through 5 conference games. Given conference rules, the game moved to penalties after neither team was able to find the go ahead goal. The Lady Tigers would fall in penalties 4-2 to Danville with Alyssa Downs registering a save. Converting on penalties for the Lady Tigers were senior captain Lizzie Hart and junior midfielder Laura Lemen.
Coach Hyatt was very proud of the defensive effort the entire squad displayed holding the host Lady Warriors to no goals through regular time and the two extra periods. The Lady Warriors had entered the match scoring over 50 goals through this point of the season.
Senior captain Lizzie Hart displayed outstanding defensive play the entire match along with junior midfielder Sam Malagon continually breaking up the Lady Warriors attack. Sophomore Madison Maher displayed determined and intelligent defending throughout the second half limiting the Lady Warriors in the midfield as well.   Next up for the Lady Tigers is senior night Wednesday evening hosting Frankfort. JV kicks off at 5:30 pm and varsity will follow at 7:00 pm. Come and support your Lady Tigers and recognize the wonderful senior class tomorrow evening.
