The LHS Girls Soccer team travelled to Benton Central in varsity action only.. The Lady Tigers got back to their winning ways with a convincing 7-0 win away from home. The Lady Tigers went into halftime up 4-0 with junior Kirstin Byrd and sophomore Madison Maher each earning a brace before halftime. Freshman Summer Stogsdill was inserted into the midfield as part of a tactical change by the Lady Tigers. Stogsdill would justify the tactical change by earning an assist with a well-timed pass that Maher would finish with a clean strike. Junior captain Lilly Haines controlled the midfield with smart distribution and earned 3 assists going into half. Haines would add another assist in the 2nd half with an impressive 4 total assists in the match.
In the second half, Kirstin Byrd would add to her brace by scoring 2 more for 4 total goals on the evening adding to her already strong form at the halfway point in the Lady Tigers’ regular season. Senior Sarah Perez would gain an assist in the second half with a well slotted ball across the goal that Byrd would finish off in front of the Lady Bisons’ goal. To finish the scoring for the Lady Tigers, freshman MF Lexi Trepcos would score from distance as her strike was beyond the outstretched Lady Bisons GK. Coach Hyatt would like to credit the 3 player backline: Sara Hammerle, Tori Bennett, and senior captain Lizzie Hart for helping to protect the clean sheet for senior GK Alyssa Downs. The Lady Tigers defensive substitutes also helped the stingy defending with senior Amber Brummett and freshman Jessica Lehmkuhler providing solid defensive substitution play.
Next up for the Lady Tigers is conference opponent Tri-West on Wednesday in varsity action. Kickoff is at Tri-West at 5:30 pm.
