The LHS Girls soccer opened its season hosting the Sheridan Blackhawks in varsity play. The Lady Tigers began the match strong by creating two golden scoring opportunities only to be denied twice in quick succession by the Sheridan GK. It would turn out to be that kind of night for the Lady Tigers as they could not find the back of the net through the full 80 minutes. The match ended 0-0 despite the Lady Tigers out shooting the Blackhawks by a substantial margin. The Lady Tigers were a bit unlucky striking the frame on a number of occasions. The Lady Tigers were lead in shooting by Captain Lilly Haines and junior, Kirstin Byrd. Coach Hyatt credited the Lady Tigers defenders and GK for protecting their clean sheet. Coach Hyatt though junior defender Sara Hammerle played superbly the entire match with well-timed tackles, good passing, tracking back and disrupting the Blackhawk attack the entire match. The Sheridan GK was up to the task the entire match and helped to prevent the match from being in heavy favor for the Lady Tigers with a number of timely saves. The Lady Tigers will be back in action for their annual Varsity Invitational tournament this Saturday beginning at 11 am as they host Warren Central in their first match.
