ATHENIANS TAKE LOW SCORING AFFAIR
Crawfordsville edged Lebanon 2 to 1 Tuesday night on their home field. Each one of the runs was unearned, as both pitchers tossed complete game gems. Trent Johnson got the win. After shutting out the Tigers over the first six innings, he got in a jam in the 7th. Senior shortstop Zach Dafoe led off and was hit by a pitch. He advanced to second on a passed ball and after an Evan Stambaugh strikeout, he would score on senior designated hitter David Nastavâs double in the right-center gap. Unfortunately that would be that last âgaspâ for Lebanon, as Johnson retired the next two. On the night he would give up the one unearned on 4 hits and the one hit batter. He struck out 15 and walked none.
Junior Tyler Welborn Pitched for Lebanon and took the loss. He surrendered the two unearned runs on 5 hits, 3 walks, and 3 hit batsmen. In fact he hit the same batter all three times. He fanned two. Besides Nastavâs RBI double, Welborn, Grant Johnson, and Evan Stambaugh were able to scratch out hits off of Johnson.
The loss drops Lebanon to 3 and 6 on the season, 2 and 4 in conference. They will take on the Athenians again on Thursday night at Memorial Park with the first pitch at 6:00.
