Game Recap

STARS TAKE RE-MATCH OVER TIGERS

You might have known what was in store for Lebanon Thursday evening in Dover after their first two batters. Senior shortstop Zach Dafoe led the game off with a liner to center. The next batter, Senior left fielder Cooper Farris, with Dafoe on the move, promptly lined the first pitch to the Webo first baseman for an inning killing double play. The Stars would put up two runs in their half, thanks to several seeing-eye base hits, and never looked back. They would win 5 to 1 to split the conference opening series.

The Tigers scratched out their lone run in the third when Junior catcher Nick Bland came home on a Star throwing error after stealing third base. On the night, the Stars banged out 11 hits to the Tigers 5. Webo Senior Zack Prickett was fantastic on the mound. He tossed a complete game, allowing the one unearned run on the 5 hits and two walks. He struck out two and survived a 7th inning scare, leaving the bases loaded to end the game. Junior Tyler Welborn started for Lebanon. He had good control on the night, maybe too good, as the Stars touched him for the 5 runs, all earned, on 9 hits. In his three innings he didn’t allow a walk and struck out four. Junior Hadyn Parker came on in the 4th and pitched three shutout innings. He gave up 2 hits, a walk, and a hit batsman. He fanned two. Prickett led the Stars at the plate also, going 3 for 4.

The loss evens the Tigers record at 2 and 2, 1 and 1 in the conference. They will visit their other county rival, the Zionsville Eagles, tonight at 6:00.
