Game Recap

TIGERS EDGE STARS TO START CONFERENCE PLAY

Lebanon Senior Grant Johnson out dueled Western Boone Junior Lance Oldman on Tuesday evening at Memorial Park, as the Tigers beat the Stars 2 to 0. Lebanon welcomed home alum and former standout Jordan Kilinedinst as the Western Boone coach who had has team ready to take on the Tigers.

Both pitchers put up zeros through the first four innings with Lebanon finally able to push their two runs home in the 5th. Senior third baseman David Nastav lead off the inning with a booming double to right over the head of Fe’lix Martinez. Sophomore Kevin Larsuel came in to run for Nastav and would move to third on Junior catcher Nick Bland’s bunt single. On the same play Larsuel scored on a Star error by Nate Bowman. With Bland on second after the error, Junior second baseman Ben Johnson sacrificed him to third. Senior shortstop Zach Dafoe then plated Bland with an infield single.

That would be all the runs the Tigers needed, as Johnson would finish what he started shutting out the Stars. In his seven innings, he allowed four hits, a walk, and a hit batter. He struck out seven and worked out of a bases loaded, no out threat in the 4th. Bland and Johnson nipped Riley Reagen at the plate for the third out, as he attempted to score on a pitch that got past Bland. Oldham took the loss going six innings. He gave up only three hits and a pair of walks while striking out one. All of his hits allowed came in the fateful fifth inning when Lebanon scored their only runs.

With the win the Tigers move to two and one on the young season and will travel to Webo Thursday night for the re-match. First pitch at 5:00.
