TIGERS BEAT THE DEVIL OUT OF PIKE
The Lebanon Nine took on Pike Wednesday evening and came home with the win, 14 to 2 over the Red Devils. The Tigers jumped out on Pike starter Mitch Barnes for 5 unearned runs in the 2nd inning and never looked back. Junior Tyler Welborn started for Lebanon and turned in an outstanding performance. He went six innings allowing one earned on two hits and a walk. He struck out seven. Senior Zach Dafoe pitched the 7th and gave up a run on three hits. He struck out two.
At the plate the Tigers pounded out thirteen hits, walked five times, and were hit once. Dafoe and Senior first baseman Grant Johnson led the way with two hits and three RBI each. Senior center fielder Evan Stambaugh and Junior right fielder Hadyn Parker also had a pair of knocks with Stambaugh driving in two. Stambaugh also had the defensive gem of the game, tracking down a deep fly ball off of the bat of Red Devil Malachi Hamblin.
The Tigers are now off for Spring Break and will return to action on April 11th when county rival Western Boone visits for a conference game. For that game the Tigers will welcome former player and LHS graduate Jordan Klinedinst, now the head coach of the Stars. Game time is 6:00 at Memorial Park.
