The LHS Lady Tigers hosted Pike in a makeup game today at noon. After trailing 2-1 at half, the Lady Tigers responded in the second half with two unanswered goals to win 3-2 against a physical and very athletic Pike side. The Lady Tigers created opportunities in the first half going ahead 1-0 with some well executed passing to get behind the Pike defenders where Kirstin Byrd shot with pace past the Pike GK. The Red Devils responded with two goals of their own before half as the Pike forwards were able to get in behind the Lebanon backline. The second half was a different story defensively for the Lady Tigers as the defenders lead by captain Lizzie Hart and GK Erin Huse kept the Red Devils from adding to their 2 goal tally. Coach Hyatt thought sophomore right back Sara Hammerle was superb in defending all game keeping the speedy Pike attackers in front of her, playing good forward balls into space and making intelligent recovery runs to disrupt possible Pike attacks. Senior Erin Huse came up huge in the second half to prevent any more goals as she bravely and correctly came off her line with good, strong hands to prevent a 1v1 to goal. Sophomore Lilly Haines was outstanding the entire match and shined in the second half collecting a goal and assist. Given some injury concerns, Haines was forced to play in the center of the midfield before being pushed higher where she collected her goal after a good service across the goal on the floor and a calm finish by the sophomore. Madison Maher continued her strong play gaining a goal and assist in the second half. Defender and captain Lizzie Hart gained her first assist of the season with a well-placed and dangerous ball into the Pike goal box where the Lady Tigers were able to capitalize with a goal. The Lady Tigers will next be on the road in a varsity only match at Park Tudor this coming Monday beginning at 5:30 pm.
