On June 9th, at Center Grove High School Allyson Davis and Jenna Dickerson were selected to play inÂ the North-South All Star Cup. Top players from around the state are selected by the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association for a day of tennis. This challenge cup would be the last tennis match in a senior girls career. Players are chosen through nomination of participating coaches based on character, record, academics, and additional school and community activities. Four of Lebanon’s senior players were nominated: Allie Ball, Allyson Davis, Jenna Dickerson and Kaitlin Heick. This year Allyson and Jenna were chosen to play for the North team, coached by Matt DeVault of Alexandria High School.
The nominations received this year were triple the number of girls chosen for the event. Twelve Forex girls are chosen for both the North and South teams. The event has three rounds of play consisting of two 6 games sets and a 10 point tiebreaker for the third. At the end of play, the girls receive a certificate and trophy for the honor. Prior to the luncheon, a retrospective talk is given by an Indiana high school girls tennis alumni. This year, Bethany Moore of Lebanon was asked to provide some insight regarding lessons learned through her participation in high school tennis. Bethany, will be a sophomore at Ball State University, majoring in nursing, and plays tennis for the Cardinals. ICGSA also presented an academic scholarship to Madison VanFossen of Harrison High School and the Mental Attitude Award winner was Macie Elliott of Evansville Memorial.
