Multiple Teams · LHS Welcomes Steven Hawthorne as New Head Volleyball Coach

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Steven Hawthorne as new Head Volleyball Coach at Lebanon High School.  Coach Hawthorne possesses a tremendous amount of volleyball coaching knowledge and experience and is an outstanding coach that meets our needs and overall athletic philosophy.  I believe Coach Hawthorne is the right fit for our student athletes participating in the volleyball program and he is very committed and dedicated to helping them achieve success on and off the court.  Again, I am very excited to welcome Coach Hawthorne as a new member of the Tiger Coaching family.

Coach Hawthorne will be holding a brief informal meet and greet meeting for all students interested playing volleyball next year on Wednesday, March 27th 5:30 p.m. in the LHS community room.   At this time, students will have an opportunity to meet with Coach Hawthorne, he will introduce himself and they can exchange important contact information.    Coach Hawthorne, myself and the other LHS sports coaches are in discussions (try and avoid as much as possible conflicts for multi-sport athletes) and the process of creating an out of season calendar which will outline the upcoming volleyball conditioning and training  programs.  We anticipate having a parent and student meeting right after Spring break and initiating the programs immediately following.  More information will be coming your way soon.

Coach Hawthorne started his coaching career in 1999 at the Performance Point Volleyball Payday Loans Club in Lafayette.  In 2000, he took over as Varsity Head Coach of Benton Central High School.  He moved on the following years to assist the Volleyball teams at West Lafayette and Western Boone High School.   During this time, he also maintained several age group head coaching positions for volleyball teams at the Performance Volleyball Club.   In 2006, Coach Hawthorne began to work with the Indy Juniors Volleyball Club program in Whitestown.  At the same time, he assisted with coaching the varsity volleyball team at Zionsville.  In 2010, Coach Hawthorne  took over as Head Coach of Guerin Catholic High School.  While at Zionsville and Guerin, Coach Hawthorne  coached several volleyball teams for the Indiana Volleyball Academy in Indianapolis and took over as their Club Director in 2011.  Presently, Coach Hawthorne works with the Indianapolis Volleyball Academy and Lafayette Area Volleyball Academy.  He has had the opportunity to work with several Lebanon players at these academy’s and he is very familiar with the Lebanon program.  He is extremely knowledgeable and understands the female athlete and what it take to make them successful on and off the court.  “I am very excited to have the opportunity to welcome Coach Hawthorne as a new member of the Tiger Coaching family.”
